There was a lot accomplished today in this disaster recovery operation. Roads are open again and driveways accessible. There is still much to be done! The outpouring of community support has been truly unbelieveable!!
As we look to start DAY 2 on THURSDAY 9/26 at 9AM we want to ensure everyone remains safe during this disaster recovery operation so here are a couple quick tidbits.
1.) All those wishing to help will be required to sign up at the Wheaton Fire Station and wear a wrist band. There will be a briefing as well. Please keep in mind this is for everyone’s safety and to ensure people get divided out to the affected areas.
2.) You must be 18 years old to help.
3.) Transportation will be available from the Wheaton Fire Station to the affected areas for a good portion of the day. We really want to keep the roadways open so bigger equipment and vehicles going between temporary brush site can move efficiently.
4.) If you need assistance please dial 211 and provide what services you need and people will be dispatched.
5.) A temporary brush site for clean wood has been started at Wheaton Park with plenty of room to manuever big equipment/truck and trailers quickly. Township has loader onsite for assisting with unloading and piling as well. This temporary brush site will be open for clean wood again tomorrow.
6.) The recycling center will be open for storm debris scattered in the surrounding area. Recycling Center is located at 2429 20th Street Elk Mound.
7.) Any personal items found can be brought to the Wheaton Fire Station where lost and found will be started. Items will be cataloged and we will be posting updates to Town of Wheaton website.
Lastly, Thank you to everyone that has helped whether it was for an hour or a full day it all matters and is making a difference!!
