Fire Chief Open Application Period: Now Accepting Applications for The Position of Fire Chief Wheaton Fire & Rescue The Wheaton Fire Commission is looking for interested and qualified individuals for the position of Fire Chief for The Town of Wheaton Fire & Rescue. The Fire Chief is appointed by the Town of Wheaton Fire Commission and serves a term of 5 years commencing on July 1st, 2025, and ending June 30th, 2030.  Compensated by an annual pay stipend as set by the Wheaton Town Board. Interested candidates shall have at least 10 years of verifiable fire service experience.  To be considered for the position, interested candidates must also live within the Town of Wheaton Fire Department response area. Required: Valid Wisconsin State Driver’s License. Meets the requirements of SPS 330 and NFPA 1001. EMT or EMR Certification at time of hire and maintained throughout appointment Entry Level Firefighter Completion of WTCS Fire Officer Course at time of appointment Preferred Current member of Wheaton Fire Rescue Certified Fire Officer I & II Certified Fire Instructor ICS 300 & 400 preferred, both must be obtained within three years of appointment Current or verifiable previous managerial and administrative experience preferred Advanced degrees or higher education, preferably in firefighting, emergency operations/management or leadership and management This position may require the employee to perform strenuous work for extended periods of time while performing some or all of the following: Wear a respirator (SCBA). Wear and/or carry over 50lbs of protective clothing/equipment. Work in an overheated, extreme cold or wet environment. Welcome to the Town of Wheaton!

Wheaton is a town in Chippewa County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 2,701 at the 2010 census, up from 2,366 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated communities of Old Albertville and Pine Grove are located in the town.

The town of Wheaton is in the southwest corner of Chippewa County, bordered by Dunn County to the west and Eau Claire County to the south. The Chippewa River forms the southeast border of the town, across which is the city of Chippewa Falls in the north, the village of Lake Hallie in the center, and the city of Eau Claire in the south. Chippewa Falls also has a land border with Wheaton in the northeast, and Eau Claire has a land border to the south of Wheaton. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 54.8 square miles (142.0 km2), of which 54.4 square miles (140.8 km2) is land and 0.46 square miles (1.2 km2), or 0.86%, is water.
